The Vltava River - Changes in the Historical Landscape<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe book focuses on the identification of\u00a0changes in the landscape<\/span>,\u00a0historical buildings<\/span>\u00a0around the river,\u00a0water management objects<\/span>\u00a0or\u00a0communication infrastructure<\/span>\u00a0depicted on old maps and plans. It also traces\u00a0the history of the Vltava floods<\/span>\u00a0and records of water levels, the development of hydrotechnical modifications of the river, especially with regard to the construction of\u00a0the Vltava Cascade<\/span>and transport on the river, starting with the rafting industry. Attention is paid to the changes in settlement, the importance of cultural heritage and the evolution of the functions of the river and the riverscape, especially transport, energy and recreational functions.\n\nThe text, divided into seven chapters, is supplemented by pictorial documentation presenting various historical materials,\u00a0old maps<\/span>\u00a0and outputs processed using modern geoinformation technologies. The book Vltava - Changes in the Historical Landscape also provides readers with access to a number of reproductions of\u00a0archival photographs<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0period postcards<\/span>, relating to places and settlements along the Vltava, many of which disappeared during the 20th century.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe publication is a critical catalogue of the exhibition of the same name, which took place last year at the Charles Bridge. The publication on the impressive The 680 pages of the publication<\/span> map stoneworking from the Romanesque period to the 20th century<\/span>, documenting the development of traditional craftsmanship in the entire area of the Prague Monument Reserve and several examples in its vicinity, all set in the context of the European development of stoneworking. The book is intended for both the general public and professionals and will be available for purchase at the Charles Bridge Museum.<\/span> The book launch took place on 20 December with the participation of experts who contributed to the book - representatives from the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, the Departments of Geotechnics and Geomatics of the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Czech Technical University and the National Heritage Institute. The book was officially christened with dust from the Cava Magi quarry in Tarquinia, central Italy, which was used for quarrying building stone as early as the 4th century BC.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe publication Czech Historical Atlas. Chapters from the History of the 20th Century contains selected topics on Czech and Czechoslovak history in an international context. The Atlas is divided into three sections, Space, Time and Society. The section Space is related to the demarcation of territory and the integration of the Czech lands, Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic into Central European and international structures. Space also means the division of the territory into smaller units, motivated by political and economic development. Space is also the landscape where changes took place, triggered by various causes in the development of society. The Time section mainly covers topics in military and political history and selected historical landmarks of the second half of the 20th century. The Society section reflects strongly on the still current issue of migration, notes national, religious, and educational diversity, and traces the perception of the Czech state in the world by various forms of representation of individuals and the whole.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe publication provides access to a hierarchically arranged set of selected findings of modern Czech historical science after 1989, related to Czech and Slovak history, set in the European, especially Central European space, on maps, cartographic models, illustrations, graphs and cartograms. The aim of the project was to elaborate the results of historical research in an international context using a cartographic method. The five sections of the main, atlas part of the publication trace individual historical periods: prehistory, the Middle Ages, the early modern period, the modern period and modern history.
