Protection of cultural heritage at the CIPA 2025 symposium

Representatives of the Department of Geomatics actively participated in the 30th International CIPA Symposium 2025, which took place on August 25–29, 2025, in Seoul, South Korea. The CIPA Symposium, held under the auspices of ICOMOS and ISPRS, is one of the world’s most significant conferences focused on the documentation, analysis, and preservation of cultural heritage. Since its inception in 1971, it has brought together experts in geomatics, photogrammetry, archaeology, architecture, and computer science, fostering the exchange of knowledge and technologies between scientific and heritage conservation communities.

The topic of this conference was „Heritage Conservation from Bits: From Digital Documentation to Data-driven Heritage Conservation“, emphasizing the growing importance of digital data and artificial intelligence in contemporary heritage preservation. The involvement of our colleagues enriched the international dialogue on applying new geomatics methods and data-driven strategies to document and protect historic buildings, landscapes, and cultural landmarks.
