Our Department

We are a team from the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague. We are largely responsible for the teaching of the Geodesy and Cartography degree programme and the Engineering Geodesy and GeomaticsMaster's degree programmes. However, our capacities are also used by other disciplines such as Architecture and Civil Engineering or other faculties of the CTU in Prague, such as the Faculty of Transport. We also offer an PhD programme in Geodesy and Cartography (Czech and English).

We offer courses in many fields:

Geographic Information System (GIS)

Digital Cartography

Photogrammetry

Space Geodesy

Remote Sensing

Surveying Instruments

Land Register

Geomatics at The Faculty of Civil Engineering of the CTU

form of NAKI, TAČR, GAČR, etc. In our research we focus on the topics of modern cartographic methods, study of historical map bases, 3D modelling and virtual reality, aerial photogrammetry, geographic information systems, remote sensing, cadastre and mapping.

Department Facility

We are equipped with modern instruments and computer technology for research and teaching. We have three computer rooms, a geodetic instruments laboratory, a photogrammetry laboratory, a virtual reality laboratory and an astronomical observatory on the roof of the building. In terms of instruments, we use Leica, Trimble and DJI drones. From software we use AutoCAD, MicroStation, Agisoft Metashape, Esri ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, GRASS GIS, OCAD, etc.

Let's study geomatics!

Contact us or come straight to the open days of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, when we give personal tours of our laboratories, showcase the equipment of the department and the best student outcomes.
